Dr. Ghazala Perveen holds her Masters in Public Health and PhD in Epidemiology. She started her career as a physician in the field of Internal Medicine. During the initial years of her career, she felt a need to address the social determinants of health along with providing clinical care to improve her patients' health issues. With this mission in mind, she extended her professional services to public health. Since then, she is actively working in the field of as a public health and epidemiology. She served at the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, Bureau of Health Promotion for more than fifteen years as a Health Officer and Director of Science, Surveillance and Epidemiology.

 

In 2019, she established her company, Kansas Health and Epidemiology Consultants, L.L.C, and is currently working as a population health and public health consultant. She has worked with several state, county and local and faith-based organizations to develop and evaluate population-based health surveillance systems, as well as chronic disease and injury prevention and control programs in Kansas. She has served at several national committees to assist her federal public health colleagues.

 

She is very passionate to assist the most vulnerable in the community and educates young health professionals to take a systems approach for addressing the needs of this population. Her passion to take care of vulnerable persons in the community is grounded in the basic teachings of Islam.

 

In addition to her professional work, she dedicates her time to serve as a member of Board of Trustees of Islamic Center of Johnson County (ICJC). She also serves as a member of ICJC's Interfaith Commitee, a member of Senior Care Committee, and as a Sunday School teacher.
