Vicki grew up in the Topeka area; after short stints in Milwaukee and Omaha, she returned to Kansas as her permanent home. Vicki graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s in family and child development and completed her master’s in social work at the University of Nebraska.
Vicki worked as a family and child therapist for 16 years. She worked in various agencies as well as in private practice. From 2001 to 2020, Vicki worked as a school social worker. She began in Kansas City, KS public schools and then worked in the Shawnee Mission School District. She retired in 2020.
Vicki has been an advocate for the disenfranchised, especially children and those who do not have a voice, for most of her life. Although this has been done primarily through direct service, she has felt called to advocate through challenging and changing systems. She is a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she serves on the Mission Committee.
